A special thank-you to Docomomo US/NOCA members

As we wrap up our 2026 activities, Docomomo US/Northern California extends our heartfelt gratitude for your generous support. Over the past year, your dedication has kept our shared mission of documenting and conserving modern architecture thriving across the region. We simply could not do this vital work without you.

To celebrate our community and say thank you, we are honored to invite you and a guest to a rare, complimentary members-only tour of an icon of mid-century experimentation: the Eichler X-100.

A Rare Look Inside a Modernist Icon

Built in 1956 as an ambitious prototype designed by renowned architects Jones & Emmons, the X-100 served as Joe Eichler’s experimental steel-frame residence. Featuring exposed steel post-and-beam construction, integrated interior gardens, and dramatic walls of glass, it remains one of the Bay Area's most significant mid-century modern residences and is proudly listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Adding to the uniqueness of this moment, the Eichler X-100 is now offered for sale, presenting an extraordinary opportunity to own and preserve a nationally recognized architectural landmark. Thoughtfully restored with meticulous respect for its original design, this one-of-a-kind home is prepared for its next chapter and awaits a steward who honors its place in modernist history.
