Film Screening: “E.1027 – Eileen Gray and the House by the Sea”

  • Docomomo US / Northern California Chapter San Francisco, CA 94131 United States (map)

Join the SFAIA Center for Architecture + Design for a screening of E.1027 – Eileen Gray and the House By the Sea, a beautifully crafted docu-fiction film about pioneering Irish designer and architect Eileen Gray.

In 1929, Gray created E.1027, a striking modernist home on the Côte d’Azur, meant as her private refuge. When famed architect Le Corbusier discovered it, admiration turned to obsession. Ignoring Gray’s wishes, he painted murals on its walls and built his own cabin nearby, sparking a battle over creative control and artistic legacy.

Directed by Beatrice Minger and Christoph Schaub, this film blends documentary and drama to tell the story of one woman’s visionary work and the fight to preserve it.

Light bites and refreshments will be provided.

Seating is limited, and their past screenings have sold out quickly.

We recommend purchasing tickets in advance.

Film Series curated by Richard Neill.
