Roger Lee: Modernism for the Masses Multi-Unit Housing Walking Tour

  • Roger Lee Walking Tour Shattuck Avenue Berkeley, CA United States (map)

1964 Terrace East, Terrace West Apartments, Berkeley, CA

Roger Lee is an under-recognized American architect of merit. In May of 2024, Docomomo US/NOCA Board Member Camila Baum organized a formal house tour of Roger Lee's work in the East Bay. This year, we are excited to offer another tour of Lee's work! The tour focuses on multi-unit housing projects by Roger Lee and his firm.

Join us on Saturday, November 8th, for a 1.5-mile walking tour of Roger Lee’s multi-unit housing.

On this leisurely walk around Shattuck Avenue in Berkeley, CA, we examine the exteriors of several Roger Lee-designed multi-unit buildings and discuss the impacts of housing, racial socioeconomics, and the intent behind better design for everyday living.

Learn more about Roger Lee in our Roger Lee feature by Camila Baum under the Resources Section of our website.
